White Pepper Gravy Recipe

White pepper gravy is a rich, creamy, and thick sauce. It's a traditional Southern recipe with fried steaks, mashed potatoes, hashbrowns, bacon, or sausage is the ultimate comfort breakfast.

Materials

  • 2 tbsp. All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. Butter
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp. White pepper
  • ½ tbsp. Salt

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a non-stick pan. Keep flame low
  • Add all-purpose flour, mix until it gets brown (approx 1 min)
  • Add milk, chicken broth, and whisk
  • Cook until mixture thickens
  • Add salt and pepper

Notes

  • Add 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt to turn this gravy into vegetarian white pepper gravy.
  • If your gravy is thick, then add more milk. You can also add chicken stock. 
  • If your gravy is thin, then simmer for more minutes until it thickens. More corn flour or flour does not work here.
  • You can refrigerate this gravy for up to 7 days in an airtight jar.
