Thousands of people drink coffee every day, so do I. And I am sure you are also a coffee lover. Here I am going to give a lookup which will make your coffee making super easy.
I’m going to show you how to use my k-cup universal reusable coffee filter. You can use a filter with the K mini K compact k select and many other models.
Let’s start!
if you’re using a plus series coffee maker, you have to attach the plus series adapter which clips onto the bottom of the filter.
I would recommend you to buy BPA-free and top-rack dishwasher-safe filters. Check out these.
I generally hand wash the filter right after I brew my cup of coffee or tea. The reusable filter comes with the holder, actual filter, and lid.
You can fill the filter into two lines. One marked with a little coffee cup and another is marked with a big coffee cup. When I brew an 8-ounce cup I fill coffee to the bottom line.
I have found these filters work really well with coffee and tea. As K cups can be quite expensive, I would suggest buying these for saving some bucks.
How to Brew Coffee using Re-usable Filter
It’s very simple to use to make coffee.
STEP 1
Put the filter in the holder and fill it with coffee to the first line or the second line. I fill it up to the first line, that’s actually 8 grams or 0.3 ounces of coffee. While up to the second line is 13 grams or 0.5 ounces.
STEP 2
You can see unlock and lock symbols on the top of the filter. Just match up the lock sign with the dot to seize the filter.
STEP 3
The potholders in the machine are used with k-cup pods. Just put your finger under the holder, push up and it comes right out.
STEP 3
Now put the reusable filter in the coffee maker. Keep the arrow in the back. Don’t worry, it doesn’t lock it, it just sits in easily.
STEP 4
Just close the lid and you can brew coffee as you do regularly with any k cup. Press the coffee button selecting eight-ounce (if you had pour in coffee that amount) and Brew.
It takes 45 seconds you have a cup of coffee and the temperature is about 165 degrees Fahrenheit normally.
ENJOY Your Coffee
TIPS
When you’re done brewing the Cup, lift the handle and take out the filter. Turn it and remove the cap. Wash the filter holder and lit.
These are black tea leaves you can see they’re very coarse more than coffee. I like to use filter fatigue.
If you like black tea save yourself some money and get really good tea leaves. No teabag or pod is going to come close.
TYPES OF COFFEE FILTERS
Coffee filters really make a difference in the taste of your coffee cup. Let’s discuss a few types of Coffee filters.
BLEACHED PAPER FILTERS
In my personal experiments when I use the unbleached paper filters, I found them healthier and environment-friendly. They are good actually.
Above all, it would not make any difference in the flavor of the coffee.
However the first thing I realized that this has more of a wool wood pulp taste. It smells like paper and those smells come through especially once it’s wet into the cup of coffee.
I can tell the difference easily and I have no doubt in my mind that you can tell the difference too.
They are so-called bleached but I found out that calling it bleached is really a misnomer. There’s no bleach used in the process which actually used as hydrogen peroxide which is not necessarily harmful.
While the EPA has said that over a lifetime of using dioxin bleach paper with your coffee may end up with harmful health issues.
SCREEN FILTERS
I found an issue with the screen is about the same kind of size that would get in a French press. Using the French press you normally grind the beans coarser. And as a result of that, you have to have the coffee water and sit in there a long time in order to extract the flavors.
I’d suggest if you’re going to do, use something like a clever couple you can afford to let it sit and steep just like you would in the French press.
Like that you’re going to be able to extract all of those extra flavors that come through the oils and so forth. And because of the steeping time, you’re going to finally get a stronger cup as it’s not the water’s going to pass through.
This way is too fast and you’re gonna get a weak cup of coffee so these can be very good provided willingly to grinded coarser and let it wait a little bit longer than what you’re supposed to do for that.
CLOTH FILTERS
You can also buy a cloth filter or make yourself using cotton muslin, which is totally safe. You can use this on a much larger coffee maker.
It’s simple and offers the best case as far as I have experienced. You don’t have to worry about any kind of health or environmental issues.
BAMBOO FILTERS
Bamboo filters are also used as coffee filters. But I read a few articles on the internet saying bamboo filter is only 40% bamboo. So it’s not like pure bamboo. So, ultimately these all above may differ your coffee taste. Decide yourself, and choose healthier stuff.
