How long to cook a whole chicken in the instant pot?
Fresh Whole Chicken
Cook whole chicken for 8 minutes per pound in an instant pot, but the temperature can vary to each instant pot. If you take a 3-pound whole chicken, then cook for 24 minutes minutes. You must check the right temperature with an instant-read thermometer. It must be 160-165F.
Frozen whole Chicken
If you are using a frozen whole chicken. Rinse Chicken with water in a bowl and pat dry with a kitchen towel. Massage oil on the entire chicken well. It will stick the spice mix to the Chicken and not fall behind in water during cooking in the instant pot. Then rub with spices. Then cook for 10 minutes per pound. And let natural pressure release for 20 minutes.
