Fixing Low Water Pressure in Kitchen Sink (Moen, Delta, Kohler)

Do you have low-flow water pressure in your bathroom or your kitchen? Well, it’s a common problem and you can easily fix it. Let me tell you in a few easy steps. I am gonna cover two types of facets.

STEP 1

First of all, you need to remove aerators with a little help from channel locks. Loosen it up and then you can unscrew it by hand.

THAT’S HOW IT LOOKS FROM INSIDE

You can see plenty of dirt in there, you need to wash off. But before you do, I would recommend that cover the drain with the plug, so you don’t lose any of the small parts. This can be taken apart and cleaned up thoroughly.

In some cases, you may see one mesh only, but quite often you can find multiple layers stacked together one on top of the other.

You have to clean up, put it back together. That part can also be taken apart with the sharp object. You may use a knife tip. Be careful while using a knife (Use toothpick rather)

STEP 2

There might be plenty of debris again that you could wash off. Snap it back together

STEP 3

Now before you put a Raider back in place, open the heart and the cold water to wash out any debris left in the system. You can now screw a Raider back in place. Tighten it by hand and with the help of channel locks.

That’s it! You can test it out.

FIXING PULL-UP OR PULL-DOWN FAUCET

Now I would tell you how to fix low water issues in kind of pull-ups or pull-down type faucet.

STEP 1

If you have one of those pull-ups or cooldowns faucets. There is plenty of debris they could be washed off. Meanwhile, don’t forget to remove the rubber gasket if it doesn’t come out right away.

STEP 2

Now here is the extra step you need to do is to remove the handle from the hose. Once you remove the handle you’ll see a filter full of debris which actually slows down your water flow.

STEP 3

If you open water now you should be able to see strong water pressure coming from the hose. Wash off all the little parts including the handle itself. And now you can put it back together. Use a pair of channel locks to tighten.

But don’t over-tighten as it may break the thread of your faucet.

STEP 4

Do the initial test. If it looks good then you can put the aerator back in place. start with your hands and finish with the channel locks. Turn on the water and you should get your pressure back on.

It’s very important to check for leaks between the handle and the hose. Because that connection part sits inside the faucet and you would not be able to see it easily. But even the smallest drip will ruin your cabinet underneath the sink.

THAT’S ALL! YOU ARE DONE!
